Neighborhood description

The neighborhood is dynamic, safe, full of naturalist guides, scientists from the Charles Darwin Research Station, but quiet at night. There are several other Galapagos rentals and hotels in the vicinity, giving it a feel of familiarity. On the equator, things start to stir after sunrise, which is always around 6am.

Wildlife, like marine iguana and sealions are just a walk away. Giant tortoises roam around nearby.

The main road through town is closed off to traffic on a Friday evening making the Galapagos nightlife and culture a joyous experience.

Getting around

You can easily walk to anywhere in Puerto Ayora as it is about half-mile across at its widest point. The whole of Puerto Ayora has a system of white taxis. You can flag one down from outside the Cactuspad and pay $1.50 to go anywhere in Puerto Ayora. We can help you with your travel plans in getting from the airport to this Galapagos home rental. There are bikes for rent nearby too.

Other details to note

Starlink has brought reliable internet to the Galapagos Islands, significantly improving connectivity. While streaming is smooth, direct video calls may encounter slight interference due to its satellite nature. Overall, it’s a substantial upgrade from previous internet services, leaving most people highly satisfied with the improved access.

We provide towels and bedding as it is not practical to carry these to the islands.

We do not offer laundry but this is easily and economically  done two minutes from the house.

Price includes cleaning and taxes.

We meet you at the house to give you the keys.

The place has no air-conditioning as it is not required for most of the year. The months of February and March are the hottest times during which the heat can be quite intense, making it uncomfortable for some. Relaxing in these hot times in one of our hammocks, usually does the trick.

There are fans in all areas. Windows are screened and are left open during the hot season.
